Richard Maksymetz

Prior to founding ALAR Strategy in 2018, Richard  was a veteran political advisor with two decades of experience. He has held senior positions in Canadian politics and government at both the federal and provincial levels, including serving as Chief of Staff to the Federal Minister of Finance, and with the British Columbia Ministers of Finance, Health and Solicitor General. He has also served as an advisor on Western and Northern Canada in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition. He is proud to have worked in 106 of the 107 Federal ridings in Western and Northern Canada (he’s been everywhere, man). This first-hand experience has provided Richard with a unique understanding of the Canadian political and public policy landscape.

Virginia Wilkinson

Virginia Wilkinson is a strategic thinker with nearly 30 years experience in leading corporate communications, stakeholder relations, and public relations initiatives for a range of public and private sector organizations. She is also a communications/media relations coach, who has worked with senior executives, senior leadership teams and front-line managers for nearly 15 years. As a communications executive, Virginia has worked in both the public and private sectors, in areas such as health care, social programming, innovation, education, and many others.

Gary Bosgoed

Gary Bosgoed is the President and CEO of Bosgoed Project Consultants Ltd. (BPC), a management consulting, consulting engineering and project management company. With over forty years of consulting experience, Gary specializes in project delivery, business advisory services and corporate governance. Before restarting BPC in 2015, Gary was the Senior Vice-President and General Manager of the WorleyParsons Edmonton Office, a team of over 2,600 personnel delivering projects around the world. The team provided engineering, procurement and construction management services on oil & gas, mining, infrastructure, and power projects both in Canada and internationally. He has also held executive positions at Waiward Steel and FT Services (AECOM). As well, Gary was a founding Director of Circle Energy (CEN:TSX) a Calgary-based oil and gas exploration company.  In 2013, he chaired the Alberta Capital Region United Way Campaign, and co-chaired the Alberta Trans Canada Trail Fundraising Committee. He sits on the Norquest College Workforce Advisory and Indigenous Advisory Committees. 

Donnie Mackay

Donnie is a former Managing Director of Greystone Managed Investments which is now a part of TD Asset Management.

 

Before retiring in July 2015 he served Greystone in several capacities including equity portfolio management, member Asset Allocation Committee, lead Canadian Equity team, and as a member of the firm’s management committee.  Greystone’s management committee oversaw the evolution of client investment solutions from traditional portfolios towards a suite of Alternative asset classes.

 

Donnie’s Greystone career started in 1992 and saw him an active member in Fixed Income, equity trading, and serving clients as a relationship manager. Donnie is a believer and builder of team-based investment management, and a corporate culture with deep commitments to its people and the communities it serves.

 

Born and raised in Regina, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan, later awarded the Charter Financial Analyst designation.  He continues to be an active participant in the financial markets, adding his efforts to a select few start-up businesses.  Passions include sports, travel, volunteering and acting as a catalyst in the lives of family, friends and his community.
